Americans launch Fan Appreciation Week
ALLEN, Texas – The Allen Americans are launching Fan Appreciation Week for the last week of games to end their incredible inaugural season.
After finishing second in their conference in the regular season, the Americans captured the 2010 Southern Conference Championship title. They defeated Laredo and Odessa in seven-game series on their path to the Ray Miron Presidents’ Cup Finals.
The Americans host the next three games in the series April 28, April 30 and May 1 at the Allen Event Center. All games start at 7:30 p.m. The team comes home with the best-of-seven series tied 1-1. Allen won the first game 4-1, but the expansion club lost Game Two in overtime 5-4.
The organization is excited to offer fans $2 beers and $2 hot dogs for the remaining three games. There will also be merchandise and other food discounts. One lucky fan will even receive a pair of tickets for the 2010-11 season.
Prior to each playoff contest, there will be “Fan Fest” in front of the Allen Event Center beginning at 5:30 p.m. Festivities include bounce houses, face painters, balloon artists, a rock climbing wall and more. The first 2,000 fans at every game will receive free thunder sticks, too.
Allen will hoist its 2010 Southern Conference Champions banner before Friday’s game. The Americans will be auctioning off their blue game-worn jerseys during a silent auction on Friday as well. The sweaters will be autographed.
The Americans are also partnering with Allen Community Outreach this week to help the organization collect canned food. Fans can drop off nonperishable items at the Allen Americans’ sales office or the Allen Event Center all this week to receive a voucher for discounted tickets to one of the last three games. To receive one discount voucher, fans need to bring a minimum of three items. Acceptable items include rice, dried beans, sugar, flour, vegetable oil, dry spaghetti, pasta sauce, peanut butter, jelly, breakfast cereal, canned tuna or chicken, SpaghettiOs and ravioli.
The voice of the Americans, Tommy Daniels, will take his radio shows on the road this week. The Dwight Mullins Show will be Tuesday, April 27, at 12:00 p.m. at Mooyah, located in The Village at Allen. Forward Liam Huculak will join Tommy Wednesday at Dodie’s Place Sports Grill at 11:15 a.m. to broadcast Hangin’ with Hooch. Luk’s Lunch, a show with Captain Jarret Lukin, will be Thursday at noon at Bar-B-Cutie. Fans can listen to the 30-minute shows at www.sportsjuice.com.
