Americans to play Rapid City in Ray Miron Presidents Cup Finals
ALLEN, Texas – After winning their second playoff series in franchise history tonight against Odessa and earning the crown of Southern Conference Champions, the Allen Americans will play the Rapid City Rush in the 2010 Ray Miron Presidents’ Cup Finals.
The best-of-seven series will have a 2-3-2 format. Allen will start the series with the first two games on the road in Rapid City, South Dakota, at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center Arena. The contests will take place Friday, April 23, and Saturday, April 24, at 8:05 p.m.
Allen will host the Rush for Games Three, Four and Five (if necessary). The faceoffs will take place April 28, 30 and May 1 at 7:30 p.m. at the Allen Event Center. Fans are encouraged to wear red to all home games in an effort to “red out” the stadium. The first 1,000 fans at each game will receive free thunder sticks. There will also be “Fan Fest” outside of the arena from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. prior to each game. The festivities include bounce houses, interactive kid zone, balloon artists and more.
Rapid City swept the expansion Missouri Mavericks in the Conference Semifinals before beating the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs in seven games in the Northern Conference Finals.
The Rush finished with a 43-14-7 record in the regular season, good for 93 points and first place in the Northern Conference. The Americans finished with a 42-17-5 record (89 points), which was second place in the Southern Conference.
The Americans were 1-2-0 against the Rush in their inaugural season. Their lone win came on the road March 12 in overtime.
