AMERICANS BRING BACK POPULAR FORWARD JIM MCKENZIE

 

Allen, Texas – The Allen Americans of the Central Hockey League announced today they have signed forward Jim McKenzie to a contract for the remainder of the season.


Jim McKenzie played in 54 games for the Americans last season, scoring 20 goals with 24 assists for 44 points, while racking up 168 penalty minutes and was a plus 17.

“Jim had a very strong season last year for Allen,” said Americans Head Coach Steve Martinson. He finished in the top 4th on the team in scoring as well as provided leadership. He will give us additional speed at forward.”

He played in 12 games for the Evansville Icemen of the ECHL this season, scoring six points with 60 penalty minutes.
McKenzie played three years of college hockey at Michigan State from 2004-2007, before turning pro during the 2007-2008 season. He’s skated in 67 American Hockey League games over his professional career for several teams including the Binghamton Senators, Lake Erie Monsters, Worcester Sharks and Peoria Rivermen.

He is expected to join the Americans in time for the game tonight in Fort Worth. Puck drop at NYTEX Sports Centre in North East Tarrant County is 7:30 pm. The Americans are in the middle of their longest road trip of the season, that will conclude next Tuesday night, February 19th in Wichita, Kansas.
