Allen, Texas – The Allen Americans and Rapid City Rush announced a two player deal today that sends forward Alex Penner to the Americans from Rapid City, with Allen sending forward Nino Musitelli to the Rush.
“Penner is a 6’4, 240 pound, big physical forward," said Allen Americans Head Coach Steve Martinson. "Alex is an experienced Left Winger who will add size to our lineup. With the NHL lockout possibly ending soon, we have several AHL players on our roster that we have agreed to loan. So adding Alex gives us excellent depth."
In 24 games for Rapid City this season, Alex Penner had 71 penalty minutes. The native of Simcoe, Ontario, will join the Americans in time for Tuesday’s game at Fort Worth.
Prior to Rapid City, he spent parts of two seasons with the Colorado Eagles of the ECHL, where he racked up nearly 350 penalty minutes in 86 games.
